How the Head land was formed
The formation of Burleigh headland was between 23 - 25 million years ago. When the Mt. Warning Volcano on the Gold Coast hinterland was active.
The Molten basalt lava from the volcano flowed all the way down to the valleys and eroded them all. Then the valleys were covered in hardened sedimentary rocks before creating what is now Burleigh headland

In figure 2 there is a clear labelled diagram that shows the beach when it is eroded, You can see the protective rock wall is exposed and the beach is flat due to to destructive waves and wind.
